Imperial BRC awarded £90m of funding for 2017-22

À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ (BRC) 2016

Following a re-application process during 2016, the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Imperial BRC has received more than £90m GBP in additional funding for experimental medicine. The new award from the National Institute for Health Research (À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ) was announced on 13 September 2016 – it will cover a five year period from April 2017. The À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Imperial BRC was first established in 2007 – this third tranche of funding will allow the BRC to continue its world-class research into cancer, heart disease, brain sciences, immunology, infection, surgery and metabolic disorders. It will also support cross-cutting research and technology development in areas such as genomics, imaging, molecular phenotyping and the use and storage of biomedical data and samples. In addition, for the first time, the BRC will fund research into gut health, with a focus on innovative approaches to disease that consider the microbiome.
