The funds, enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that improves people’s health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth.
(BRCs) are collaborations between NHS organisations and universities. They bring together academics and clinicians to translate scientific discoveries into potential new treatments, diagnostics and technologies.
The À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ (BRC) is a part of the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in partnership with Imperial College London.
It provides the infrastructure – human and technological – to conduct early-stage experimental medicine within our . The BRC aims to exploit the scientific power of the College’s Faculties of Medicine, Engineering and Natural Sciences, and provide proof-of-principle of new breakthroughs within the clinical setting. We collaborate extensively with industry, other funding agencies, and with colleagues across the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ infrastructure. Our patients and volunteers are closely involved in the design and delivery of research, and the BRC invests heavily in skills and training for the clinical academics of tomorrow.
The À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Imperial BRC supports research across 14 Themes, linked by four common threads:
Early diagnosis – developing new tests and improving current testing to speed up diagnosis and allow earlier
treatment
Precision medicine – tailoring treatment to a patient’s specific needs to improve outcomes
Digital health – using computer technology to provide clinicians with more accurate information for better treatment
and allow patients to manage their health
Convergence science – bringing different scientific fields together to provide new perspectives and solve complex
health research challenges
